room in their 60-year-old brick home when they moved

in three years ago, Jenna and Ed Brennan made it a

priority to create a pleasant guest room. “We wanted

friends and family who came to visit to have an oasis,

to feel comfortable,” Jenna says. The suburban

Philadelphia couple pulled up the room's carpet and

restored the wood floor, then added wainscoting to give

the room more architectural character. Crisp white paint

on the beaded board contrasts with rich red walls, while

a new crystal chandelier adds sparkle. Jenna says they

spent less than $500 and about three weeks' time on the

room. “It wasn’t all that hard and turned out really nice.”
